General fitting recommendations
It is important to find out why the original turbocharger needs replacing. You should always determine the cause of, and resolve, any turbo charger failure before fitting a VEGE remanufactured turbocharger. If an existing defect has not been fixed, the resulting damage claim may not be covered by the VEGE warranty.
Every OEM turbocharger is designed to match a specific engine and is given a relevant OEM number and turbocharger manufacturer part number. You should always ensure the part number shown on your VEGE remanufactured turbocharger matches that of the original turbocharger, the VEGE warranty will be deemed invalid if the turbocharger is fitted to the wrong engine.
All VEGE exchange products should be subjected to a visual inspection before accepting delivery, any damage found after the carrier has left is your responsibility.
We recommend that you always check the following when fitting a VEGE remanufactured turbocharger:
The engine intake/exhaust and aftercooler systems should be checked and cleaned to ensure they are free from obstructions or debris. VEGE recommend that the air filter is replaced with OEM recommended parts.
The oil inlet and oil drain flanges should be cleaned and free from obstruction or debris. You should always replace a component if you are in any doubt as to its condition.
Remove and thoroughly clean all oil, carbon and debris from the connecting pipes and hoses. Pay particular attention to the turbo air intake pipes and hoses for debris. Debris left in the intake pipes will be drawn into the new turbo and will cause serious damage; The resulting damage could invalidate your VEGE warranty
An oil and filter change should be carried out to ensure no foreign bodies enter the VEGE remanufactured turbocharger. VEGE recommends using OEM parts and specified oil.
The exhaust mounting flange and studs should be free from cracks and debris. You should always replace a component if you are in any doubt as to its condition.
Never use liquid sealing compounds on the oil feed or drain connections and do not use exhaust sealing paste.
Drain the intercooler and connecting pipes of residual oil.
Prime the turbocharger with clean oil for pre-lubrication before starting the engine.
